SCAA Expo: April 15-18, 2010

Every year, the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) puts on the country's largest gathering of producers, importers, roasters, cafe owners and baristas of specialty coffee. Claiming to have "everything for everyone in the coffee world," the SCAA Expo also provides a wonderful opportunity to meet with our partners and allies as well as establish some new contacts in the Fair Trade business. This year's Expo will be held in Anaheim, CA. |
World Fair Trade Weeks: May 1-15, 2010

The Fair Trade Resource Network has announced the theme for 2010's World Fair Trade Day: "Fair Trade, My Home" and is eagerly campaigning to make this year's event as successful as the last. As usual, World Fair Trade Day a wonderful opportunity to join in with Fair Traders all across North America and the world in celebrating the movement and encouraging consumers to ask questions about where and how the products they enjoy were sourced. This year's event has activities planned from May 1-15, 2010. |
BALLE Conference: May 20-23, 2010

Join hundreds of entrepreneurs and business owners, BALLE network leaders, economic developers, local government representatives and community connectors, as we explore innovative best practices in growing community health and wealth. Together participants will find inspiration, share proven tools and successful programs, and explore how communities (like yours) are stepping forward as leaders of the new economy. Fair Trade Futures: September 10-12, 2010

In 2005, Fair Trade promoters and activists gathered in Chicago, IL for the first Fair Trade Futures conference to discuss the movement and its direction. Five years later, much has changed in the world of Fair Trade...and it's time we pull up our sleeves and get the issues out "on the table" yet again. The FT Futures Conference is scheduled for September 10-12, 2010 and will take place in Boston, MA. Join hundreds of others in what is sure to be a memorable and productive event. |

Green America (formally known as “Coop America”) is another budding ally of Coop Coffees, devoted to creating a socially just and environmentally sustainable society. Together with Global Exchange, they’re putting on the “Green Festival” in five different geographical locations, at five different points in the year. With a slew of renowned speakers, a number of workshops and films, as well as live music, taste-testing, and many other fun activities, it sounds like these events are quite the party! |
SCAA Cupping Judge Course: Dec 6-10, 2010

Currently, Coop Coffees' Quality Control Lab ("Labo Equitable") located in Montreal, Quebec, offers the SCAA Cupping Judge Course two times a year. The course is instructed by Coffee Lab International owner and manger, Mane Alves who is a highly qualified master roaster and renowned quality control/cupping trainer. Next course: Dec 6-10, 2010 |
