Matagalpa baseball

The tangy smell of old leather, the muted thud of a baseball hitting a glove, the roar of a cheering crowd. Baseball often elicits intense passions. Nowhere is this dedication and enthusiasm better exemplified than in Nicaragua where baseball is the national sport. For the past couple of years, Cooperative Coffees has supported the revitalization of this venerable sport in Matagalpa. This year, we will once again be renewing our sponsorship commitment with the Matagalpa baseball team.

Ethiopia Photo Project

In relation to the Oromia Coffee School Project in 2007, Higher Grounds ran this awesome photo project on their website. Beyene worked full time as a photographer of the farmers, raising awareness, and giving customers a first hand look at the realities coffee farmers face in Ethiopia. Higher Grounds donated 1$ of every bag of Ethiopian Oromia Medium Roast sold on their website, as well as 1$ of every pound sold.

Higher Grounds is fundraising money for schools in the communities we purchase coffee from in Southern Ethiopia.

Why not give a donkey?

The donkey project with producer partner Oromia has become a yeeeehaaaaww success! We closed this harvest season's donkey contribution with nearly 30 donkeys purchased by CC members and friends! We'd love to see this project continue in the many harvest seasons to come so please stay tuned for another opportunity to donate a furry friend and feel free to contact us for more information.
